From this Winery
Clear signs of oak but a creamy intense fruit which makes it a delight to drink.
Toasty, honey, spices and candied lime. Fine minerality on the palate while still expressive in both fruit and spices
Great acidity structure with some creamieness. Concluding with a long and sapid finish that certainly lives up to the cuvée's name.
Mature nose showing yellow apples and minerals and opens up with mint chocolate and a touch of freshly cut grass covering it all in a delicious way. Palate is still filled with a refreshing lemon citrus acidity at first, before a creaminess takes over on the mid palate and with a distinct lime zesty bitterness taking over on the lengthy finish. This is just drinking perfectly right now.
White peach, apricot, lemon and notes of violet, acacia on a mineral, delicately woody background.
After a frank and very fresh attack, the wine evolves towards a beautiful fullness, always with this minerality characteristic of the wines of this domain. Aromas of peach, intense apricot, always supported by a freshness that gives relief and volume to the whole.
Very elegant finish.
The 2017 Chablis 1er Cru Butteaux, which is matured partly in cement eggs and part in mostly used wood. It has an elegant bouquet with chalk, yellow flowers, dry granite and a touch of smoke--quite backward. The palate is well balanced with crisp acidity, a "transparent" Chablis, stony and penetrating, very natural and refined with a healthy dash of white pepper that lingers on the finish.
It is an top organic white wine from Languedoc-Roussillon produced by Domaine Gauby. It is a great white wine produced in limited quantities that ferments and ages in barrels for 12 months, and expresses intense aromas of fresh and dried fruits and minerals for a full-bodied and savory sip.
With 0.72 hectares, La Pousse d'Or is the proud owner of a beautiful area in this climate whose reputation is second to none. One of the most emblematic premier crus of Puligny-Montrachet, this climat borders another equally famous one: Les Pucelles. Also in the extension of the Grand Cru Montrachet, in line with the quality of its soils. Barrel aging for 12 months with a limited proportion of new wood.
1910 bottles produced. A very attractive if not particularly complex or concentrated Chassagne, drinking beautifully at four years of age. Silky and creamy texture, ripe orchard fruit, vibrant acidity, floral lift, perfectly judged oak, salty finish with a hint of earth.
Chablis-like limestone and shell aromas, Flavors wonderfully spicy and full, focused and direct. Chardonnay with a lot of depth and texture and a crisp mineral-laden finish.
Located in the middle of hillsides, this premier cru is distinguished by its clay-limestone, stony and well-draining soil. Antoine Jobard cultivates his Chardonnay there according to reasoned and organic principles and seems to have mastered the art of winemaking to perfection. Indeed, when tasted, the wine presents a nicely contrasted aromatic bouquet, fine and intense. White fruits, white flowers and citrus mingle with gourmet notes of praline, cooked pear and smoke. The mouth does not leave us indifferent either. Its striking balance is characterized by great depth, freshness and a saline finish.
Nose with honey and white fruits. The palate is fresh on the entry with crisp tannin, citrus-driven with Granny Smith apples and a touch of pear. Balanced, fine and very tasty.
it's unfurling in the glass with a youthfully reserved nose of crisp yellow orchard fruit, citrus oil, iodine, smoke and white flowers. Medium to full-bodied, chalky and inactive, it's deep and textural, built around fine structuring dry extract and tangy acids.
In the extension of Montrachet and in the immediate vicinity of Chevalier-Montrachet, Le Cailleret is also the neighbour of Premier Cru Les Pucelles. Its name refers to the very stony and pebbly soils on which the vines take root. Its intensely racy, almost aristocratic profile gives it unparalleled depth, as its mineral character takes over. The 60-year-old vines give it considerable volume on the palate while preserving its dazzling freshness. The long finish lingers in purity and finesse.
This Hermitage Vin de Paille is a surprising nectar, which benefits from the subtle balance between fruit, sugar and freshness.
A pungent suggestion of diverse hedge flowers and high-toned herbs rises from the glass of Dagueneau 2010 Blanc Fume de Pouilly Silex; then migrates to a palate dominated by succulent grapefruit, white peach, and cassis. Breadth, opulence, sheer extract, a silken texture, and high glycerin, all seem to enhance this Sauvignon’s sense of sweet ripeness, though citrus zest and berry skin lend satisfying counterpoint.
The vineyards of Meursault, in the heart of the Côte de Beaune, lay on an exceptional terroir between calcareous and marl soils. White Meursault has a pale gold color with greenish tones. The nose is of great delicacy, as well as a complexity (many and varied flavors, changing depending on the climate). In the mouth, the white Meursault has a rare density, a fine and deep structure. This is a very harmonious wine, whose balances are perfect (fat / acidity, floral and mineral aromas).
The Domaine des Comtes Lafon is recognized for the excellence of its productions, and the Meursault are no exception.
Notes of honey, cedar, acacia flowers and hazelnuts characterise the domaine's Meursault Premier Cru Perrières. A complex wine with great harmony.
Located between Les Porusots and Les Charmes, this premier cru comes from a limestone rich plot that imparts superb minerality and unrivalled tension to the wine. This is a wine built to age and will seduce in years to come with its complexity, concentration and one of a kind aromatic persistence.
About Domaine Leroy
In 1868, François Leroy founded Maison Leroy. One of his descendants, Henri, bought half of the Romanée-Conti vineyard in 1942, an estate with great notoriety whose wines are still famous throughout the world.
In 1971, his daughter Lalou Bize-Leroy took over the management of Maison Leroy and was also co-manager of the Romanée Conti estate from 1974 to 1992. It was not until 1988 that the estate was created in the Côtes-de Nuit appellation. after purchasing the vines from Domaine Noëllat and from Domaine Philippe Rémy. From September 1988, all of the estate's vines were cultivated and cared for using biodynamic methods.
Today, Maison Leroy produces Premier Crus and Grands Crus in prestigious appellations such as Chambolle-Musigny, Musigny Grand Cru, Corton Charlemagne, Clos de la Roche, Romanée Saint Vivant, Richebourg and Clos-Vougeot. The production of these great wines places the Leroy estate among the best wine producers in Burgundy.
One of the few Bordeaux produced using all 5 allowable grape varieties. The melange of flowers, spice-box, cherries, wet earth and cocoa smells just great. On the palate, things get even better with all the sweet, fresh, energetic, juicy, ripe, soft, textured, red fruits, spice and herbs in the finish.
Château Montlandrie is a domaine founded by an Italian family at the end of the 19th century and now owns 12 hectares of vineyards.
The wine produced by Denis Durantou of L'Eglise Clinet is very attractive with its round and fresh fruit.
It is made with 75% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon, and uses 45% new barrels.
Leathery and earthy nose, spice, mature red fruits; Medium body, lovely elegance, complex character. Has developed some tobacco and spice. Perfect for now.
Nose on blackcurrant and blueberry.
Dense juice of black fruits, smooth tannins, and good acidity keeping it fresh and balanced. Savoury finish with good length.
Bouquet of beechwood and brambly stemmed fruit. Palate has medium tannins and lifted acidity with sour red cherries. Finishes long with nice purity of fruit. Absolute deliciousness, albeit still very young! The purity of fruit, structure, acidity, and balance are all in place. Deep and rich bing cherry fruit laced with Volnay terroir.
Nose of great personality, at first intensely floral with hints of dark spices and ripe cherries. We can also smell bitter cocoa and smoky notes. It's young, crunchy and intense with rich dark cherry fruit balanced by plenty of acidity. So juicy and succulent with a strong streak of Gevrey minerals and the finish is grippy, stony and ferrous.
Cool nose of black cherry, spice and lavender aromas. There is excellent detail and even more energy to the middle weight flavors compared to the regular cuvée while the focused finish is well-balanced and impressively long.
Nose of black fruits, tapenade, smoke, minerals and white pepper. Lovely palate, with a plush feeling but not overboard. Acidity and tannins are well balanced. Great persistency.
Pronounced aromas of mulberry and plum leading the way to undertones of truffle, game and earth. Rich and broad with grainy tannins. Great balance, rich, powerful and great length. So voluptuous and vigorous!
Elegant, well balanced, long. With typical Gevrey aromas and flavors, ie dark fruits and smoked meat. Tannins are mature and integrated. Just the right acidity. This wine drinks well above its classification.
Very nice Pommard 1er Cru ready for drinking. Nose of red raspberry and cherry. Some aged burg notes pushing through. Slight hint of balsamic and mint. In the mouth still a nice spine of '96 acidity and some tannins.
Château Sociando-Mallet produces full-bodied wines with a deep, dark colour. Their complex bouquet is usually dominated by black fruit aromas with a touch of minerality and well-integrated, elegant oak. Often somewhat "virile" when young, the wines gain in balance and complexity with age. They are fresh, straightforward, and have a wonderful length.
Château Sociando-Mallet has always been a wine with great ageing potential.
Nose dominated first by dark berries (blackberries, hints of black currant) and blue plums. After a while in the glass, wonderful gushes of provencal spices complement the sweet fruit. Full bodied attack with smooth tannins, high concentration of fruit in the middle part, and a fresh and spicy finish. Long and mineral aftertaste where the fruit and the spices compete for attention. Remarkably elegant in the mouth. It is superb right now.
Earthy, gingerbread, licorice and berry nose. An elegant, medium-bodied Gevrey with high acidity, medium alcohol and soft tannins, showing delicious balance and finesse. Nice finish. Good for years ahead, this wine is drinking beautifully now.
Bright red cherry with subtle spice hints. Good acidity, good weight, structured, with polished tannins. Good terroir transparency. Could be enjoyed young.
This cuvee includes some Clos Prieur 1er cru fruits and averages over 60 year old vines. Intense aromatic of meat spice, stem and florals.Very powerful and brooding, with great energy and balancing structure. Easily could pass for an great 1er cru with depth, black fruit, tarry/roasted notes. Drinking wonderfully but it will last another few years.
Ripe cherries, freshness, minerality, spices. Earthiness but still soft fruit on the palate. The tannins are smooth, and the acidity is present. Purity is the key word.
This wine is at its peak.
Absolutely stunning. Bright, pure and balanced. Ripe berries, smoke, olive and floral notes. An iron fist, yet extremely elegant, almost Burgundian in style. This will age beautifully.
Mid shoulder level. Some damage on the label.
Tasted in March 2022: Opened 2hrs before but didn’t decant it. Aromas of cherry, leather, mushrooms, cedar and then rose petals. Medium garnet appearance. On the palate, flavor of cherry, red plum, leather and chocolate and and hint of pepper. Really well balanced and with a gentle finish. The flavor did not fade even two hours after opening. A truly great wine.
The fruit is ripe with dark cranberry, cherry and soil notes. The palate was thin and packed a big punch of floral and fruity tones with sizzling acidity.
Structured and aerial at the same time, incredibly complex.
Pretty strawberry, touch of grass and mineral. Telltale Gevrey earth on the palate. Light and airy but with enough grip to remind you it’s a Rousseau. Exquisite balance speaks to the excellent winemaking. At its peak.
Floral, berry, mint and leather. Despite wine won't improve further, it should be able to last another 2-3 more years.
Lightly fragrant, soft red berries and darker spice. On the light side of Burgundy, but with real complexity and finesse, Delicate tannins, great acidity, smooth and long with lovely red cherry, earth and dark spice intensity. Tightly coiled, suggesting more years ahead. Refinement of a typical Charmes. Delicious.
It owes its unique qualities to the genius of its terroir as well as to the passionate work of a succession of generations. It’s a remarkable wine that comes from a combination of characteristics that are only rarely found: finesse, elegance, complexity, density, intensity, length and freshness. Although its tannic concentration may be exceptional, it’s rare to detect astringency.
The great vintages are distinguished by their formidable ability to move us. The lesser vintages give pleasure to wise enthusiasts. They offer the advantage of evolving very rapidly and, reveal, after a few years, instead of power, this subtlety that is the prerogative of great terroirs.
Château Margaux has an extraordinary ability to evolve. Over the years, it has developed a finesse, an aromatic complexity and a remarkable presence on the palate.
Full, rich, spicy nose. Lovely raspberry-fresh strawberry nose. Herbal notes reminding of dill. Gently oaky.
Lush and ripe palate. Medium body (surprisingly light for the vintage). Red fruit, raspberry, sandalwood oak, silky and smooth. Good intensity. Chalky and ballerina lightness. Very fine and elegant for the vintage indeed.
The nose is a fragrant melange of sweet red cherries, earth, spice and a drift of florals. Very attractive. Great palate too - surprisingly really fresh and lively for the vintage, with bright acidity and the finest tannins caressing lovely flavours of red cherries, mineral and spice. Lots of energy, playful wine. Great length leading into a an effortlessly elegant finish. It is a demonstration of coolness of the terroir beautifully married to the fleshy voluptuousness of the vintage.
Beautiful floral bouquet, sweet strawberries and lovely sous-bois scents. On the palate very elegant and fine. Rather dark fruit. Salty mineral notes. Beautiful balance and harmony. A great wine simply, power and class, finesse, length.
Richebourg with flowers and spices packed in a glass. The palate was delicious, with layers of meat and smoke, floating alongside a superb mouthful of soft red fruit and gentle spice. The wine is balanced and long. Completely soft, mellow and mature, yet nicely still nicely kept up with a decent bit of acidity. Old for sure, but yummy.
Good balance of earthy aromas with some remaining red fruit, this showed some black tea, mushroom and Asian spice character. Persistent and long on the palate with a great finish. Less density and power than I hoped for, but still a superb wine.
Capsule has been cut for inspection. light sediment very bright 3 cm under the cork
The domaine was founded in 1924 by Georges Roumier, who began domaine bottling in 1945. He was succeeded in 1957 by his son Jean-Marie and now grandson Christophe, who joined his father in 1982 and took over completely in 1992. Most of the wines are rented (en fermage) from family members although Ruchottes Chambertin is held on a share cropping deal with an external proprietor, Michel Bonnefond. The wines are seductively fruity in their youth yet with excellent ageing potential.
This wine offer a quite fantastic vibrant energy – perhaps ever so slightly on the ripe side in the bouquet – slight hint of prune and liqourice .. but also cool vibrant cherries, raspberries brought forward by a deeply centeret earthy minerality. On the palate very vibrant and vivacious fruit – gorgeous mineral tension and lively acidity.
