Cave de Tain - Hermitage Gambert de Loche 2010
This emblematic cuvée is a tribute to Louis Gambert de Loche (1884-1967), founder of the Cave de Tain l'Hermitage, in 1933, with a hundred winegrowers. Owner of vines in Hermitage, he was a fervent defender of quality wines and an active contributor to the establishment of appellations in the Rhône Valley, and what would become the INAO. In 1967, the Cave de Tain bought its property, which has gradually grown to reach 21 hectares today and constitute the historic property ‘Gambert de Loche’ of the Cave de Tain. In homage to this great man who devoted his life to viticulture, a Hermitage cuvée bears his name since the 1994 vintage, made from plots selected from the most exceptional terroirs of the Cellar.

Tasting notes
The color is dense and deep. On the nose, aromas of black fruit jam, with toasted and spicy touches appear.
In the mouth, the years have softened the dense and imposing tannic structure of the wine, the volume remains remarkable and the aromatic palette very rich: black fruits, notes of roasting and menthol, spices. A pure delight!
Pairing
Red meats, game, chicken with crayfish, tournedos Rossini, a truffled brie or a hot chocolate and custard fondant
Terroir
The hillside of the Hermitage facing south is located northeast of Tain l'Hermitage. This cuvée comes for the most part from fluvio-glacial alluvial soils, for the rest from granitic soils.
Vinification
Rigorous parcel selection operated by their vineyard manager on old vines with low yields. Long vatting (approximately 3 weeks) and aged about 18 months in new oak barrels.

Winery Description
‘I continue to consider Cave de Tain to be one of the best co-ops in the world, and they make a bevy of truly outstanding wines. This is in part, I’m sure, due to their incredible, state of the art cellar / winery. In addition, they have a terrific vineyard management and winemaking team. …’.
Jeb Dunnuck
It was a group of winegrowers who founded the Cave de Tain at the foot of the hills, including Louis Gambert de Loche, president and founder who actively contributed to the development of the Hermitage appellation decree. Today the appellation is 80 years old and the cellar 85!
