Winery Description

Domaine de La Solitude belongs to one of the oldest families in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, whose roots date back to the 15th century. In the 17th century, Hélène Barberini, descendant of the illustrious Tuscan family of the same name, married Claude Martin, owner of a vineyard in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Their grandson will give a tremendous boost to the estate by creating the first label on the Appellation. Thus “the Wine of Solitude” becomes a guarantee of quality and is exported.

Eight generations later the Domaine is still family owned and run by Florent Lançon.
The vineyard extends over 37 hectares in A.O.C Châteauneuf-du-Pape.
It is conducted in organic farming. Its grape varieties carry the history of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, the thirteen grape varieties are grown there.
The Estate is divided into 33 plots spread over 2 islands, 33 ha around the Estate and 4 ha to the north of the appellation. A natural, complex heritage where safres and pebbles form a veritable mosaic of terroirs.
